Join us on this journey towards a kinder, healthier future.

Together, we are shaping the next generation of compassionate leaders.

A Revolutionary Journey

On May 6th, 2022, Atlas Vegan Community School Uganda embarked on an extraordinary journey, starting with just five learners from the family of our landlord, Mr. Joseph. The vision behind this initiative was to bring about transformative change through education.

This dream was made possible by the generous support of Violet, a friend from the UK and founder of Violet Vegan Comics, along with her daughter. Their sponsorship enabled us to purchase land and construct a temporary school structure, marking a significant milestone in our quest to establish a vegan school in Uganda.

In 2023, our school received its first award and funding of $1000 from PETA International, recognizing our innovative approach to vegan education and community empowerment. This Compassionate Award was a testament to our dedication to promoting veganism in Uganda.

As ambassadors of veganism in Uganda, we are proud to have the support of the founder of Luv4all Canada, who has been instrumental in our journey from day one. She serves as our patron and Board of Director for Luv4all Uganda Foundation.

Currently, our school has a population of 200 learners, with 80% being vulnerable children who study for free. We rely on donations and support from well-wishers to sustain our mission. Despite the challenges, including long distances and parental ignorance, we remain committed to providing education to those who need it most.

Progress
and
Future Goals

As we continue to grow and thrive, we're excited to share our latest achievements and future aspirations.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors and well-wishers, we've recently acquired a school van, which has greatly improved our transportation capabilities. This is a significant milestone for us, and we're grateful for the support.

Our team has also expanded, with 8 teaching staff and 4 non-teaching staff members dedicated to providing quality education to our students. Our curriculum spans from daycare to primary school, with vocational training also in the works.

Despite our progress, We still face several challenges:

1

Permanent School Structure:

We urgently need to construct a permanent building to ensure the safety and trust of our students and their families.

3

School Garden and Permaculture:

We aim to establish a school garden, using permaculture principles, to provide a sustainable source of vegan food for our students and the community.

5

Furniture and Equipment:

We lack sufficient seats and other essential equipment to create an optimal learning environment.

2

Safety and Security:

Although we've made improvements, we continue to prioritize safety measures, including the installation of a wire fence, thanks to the support of our UK and Ugandan partners.

4

School Homes:

We require additional facilities to accommodate our growing student body.

6

Water Sustainability:

We need to drill a borehole to ensure a reliable and sustainable water supply, as our current tanks are insufficient.

7

Digital Literacy Programs:

We aspire to introduce digital literacy programs, including computers and digital boards, to prepare our students for the digital age.
